Updated Elementary School Calendar

Hi! I’m Barkley. Your child’s Kindergarten sidekick.

I’m here to tell you that it’s time to register for Kindergarten!

Normally I’d invite you inside one of our Kindergarten classrooms so you and your child could look around with me,
but to keep each other safe, we have to wait to do that another time. What I can do is help you find all the information you need to register your child for Kindergarten at the DSBN! I put it on www.dsbn.org/kindergarten for you. It has important information like:

  • How to register your child online
  • A video about a typical day in Kindergarten
  • A Kindergarten classroom 360° virtual tour
  • An e-book about how I overcame my first day fears

Register today at dsbn.org/kindergarten. I can’t wait to meet you and your child at school!

Gordon Graduation

Hello, Families of Gordon Grade 8 Graduates!
We want to update you on our current status in planning an opportunity to celebrate our Grade 8 graduates in June.
We want you to know that we will make it as memorable as possible! Certificates are being printed, celebratory graduation items are being prepared and a multimedia “memory” is being created. Our plan is to celebrate this milestone in June, before our grade 8 graduates move on to a new adventure.
To ensure the health and safety of our students and their families, the District School Board of Niagara continues to closely monitor current Ministry and local COVID guidelines. Further details will be shared with you once we are able to determine the safest way to celebrate.
The tentative date for our Gordon Grade 8 graduation celebration will be Thursday, June 24, and a time will be shared once the nature of our event is finalized.

Kindergarten parents: Please use the Thorold Rd. entrance and proceed to the Kindergarten parking/pick-up/drop-off area.

Students in grades 1 to 3: Parents and Guardians are reminded to use the Thorold Rd. entrance when dropping off and/or picking up students in grades 1- 3.

Students in grades 4 to 8: Parents and Guardians are reminded to use the Clare Street back entrance dropping off and picking up students in grades 4 -8 only. Please be aware that this parking lot is used for bus transportation, and as such is very congested at entry and dismissal times. To help ensure the safety of all students and families, we ask that you please yield to all buses, and to consider dropping off and picking up on Clare Street where students can use the sidewalk to safely enter and exit the school yard. Thank you for cooperation with this.

Sign-In/Sign-Out Procedures for all students: If you are picking up or dropping off your child(ren) during the school day, please use the Thorold Rd. entrance and parking lot. In keeping with Public Health protocols, we are not permitting visitors into the building at this time. However, we ask that you please come to the front door and press the buzzer so that someone can assist you with signing in or out your child.

REMINDER: All students in grades 1- 8 must wear a mask. We strongly encourage our younger friends in grades Kindergarten to wear one as well.

Lunches: Please come to school prepared with all necessary items ( backpack, lunch etc.) We are trying to limit any unnecessary trips/drop-offs at the school:) We strongly encourage all students to eat at the school. Our Crossing Guards time has not been extended and will not cover all of our lunch breaks. This will help us keep all students accounted for and safe within the school day.

ALL communication from school will be sent home

electronically this year. Please ensure you register for

Cash Online (no credit card is required) at School Cash

the office has a current email for your family. Your

Student passwords:

Our DSBN IT Help Desk is currently receiving a high volume of calls regarding lost student account information. If your student has forgotten his or her user name or password, please go to the student account self-service password reset tool (https://student-password-reset.dsbn.org/). This utility will allow password resets for students who can provide student birth date, parent/guardian email address and OEN ( Ontario Education Number found on any report card). At the end of the process the parent/guardian will receive an email confirmation that includes the student user name and email.
