November Updates


Kindergarten parents: Please use the Thorold Rd. entrance and proceed to the Kindergarten parking/pick-up/drop-off area.

Students in grades 1 to 3: Parents and Guardians are reminded to use the Thorold Rd. entrance when dropping off and/or picking up students in grades 1- 3.

Students in grades 4 to 8: Parents and Guardians are reminded to use the Clare Street back entrance dropping off and picking up students in grades 4 -8 only. Please be aware that this parking lot is used for bus transportation, and as such is very congested at entry and dismissal times. To help ensure the safety of all students and families, we ask that you please yield to all buses, and to consider dropping off and picking up on Clare Street where students can use the sidewalk to safely enter and exit the school yard. Thank you for cooperation with this.

Sign-In/Sign-Out Procedures for all students: If you are picking up or dropping off your child(ren) during the school day, please use the Thorold Rd. entrance and parking lot. In keeping with Public Health protocols, we are not permitting visitors into the building at this time. However, we ask that you please come to the front door and press the buzzer so that someone can assist you with signing in or out your child.

REMINDER: All students in grades 1- 8 must wear a mask. We strongly encourage our younger friends in grades Kindergarten to wear one as well.

Lunches: Please come to school prepared with all necessary items ( backpack, lunch etc.) We are trying to limit any unnecessary trips/drop-offs at the school:) We strongly encourage all students to eat at the school. Our Crossing Guards time has not been extended and will not cover all of our lunch breaks. This will help us keep all students accounted for and safe within the school day.

electronically this year. Please ensure you register for

Cash Online (no credit card is required) at School Cash

If you are not receiving emails, please confirm that

the office has a current email for your family. Your

child's teacher will connect with you during

the first week of school to let you know how to access

your child's classroom website. Please check it regularly.


Student passwords:

Our DSBN IT Help Desk is currently receiving a high volume of calls regarding lost student account information. If your student has forgotten his or her user name or password, please go to the student account self-service password reset tool (https://student-password-reset.dsbn.org/). This utility will allow password resets for students who can provide student birth date, parent/guardian email address and OEN (Ontario Education Number found on any report card). At the end of the process the parent/guardian will receive an email confirmation that includes the student user name and email.


What is Safe Arrival?

Safe Arrival is an absence management system that improves student safety and makes it easy for you to let the school know about your child’s absence.
You are asked to report your child’s absence in advance whenever possible using one of these convenient methods:

1. Provide your email address to the school.

2. Get the app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store (or from the links at https://go.schoolmessenger.ca).

3. Tap Sign Up to create your account.

4. Select Attendance from the menu, and then select Report an Absence.

1. Provide your email address to the school.

2. Go to the website.

Absences can be reported in advance:

• 24 hours/day
• 7 days a week
• For any school day in the school term
• Up to the cut-off time on the day of the absence.
